cools the house – i put it in my big bedroom window because i didnt want to hear the noise during the daytime. it’s not any more noisier than any other window air conditioner. I put a big fan in front of it aiming it at my living room during the day, and it keeps me cool enough during hundred and 110° weather. I have a dehumidifier in the kitchen/laundry room which helps. The window AC does not drip outside, like my old one did. When the AC was set at 69 my highest bill was $140. Now that my company is gone I’ve got it set in the low 70’s and I’m using 3 to 4 dollars worth of electricity every day for the whole house. installing-I didn’t remove the AC from it’s metal case and install it separately as recommended. I just picked up the whole thing and set it in the window and added concrete block support on the outside. of Course I added the insulation around it correctly so that it keeps the weather and bugs out. About the only thing I don’t like about it, actually two things, is that the remote doesn’t work very well no matter how close it is and no matter how new the batteries are. The temperature tends to get at least 3° higher than what the remote has it set for. (And that is with the room bedroom door open or closed.

Frigidaire FFRA051WAE Window-Mounted Room Air Conditioner, 5,000 BTU – It is not whisper silent the fan makes fair amount of noise (aaah) but the five stars for noise level is because my units compressor does not KLUNK on and Off. Mine does not make vibration noise. (One year old)

Good Enough for Small Room, no Frills – I used this AC for about 2 months this summer and it was pretty good. However I was not looking for top of the line, just something that fit my room which is fairly small, fitting just a twin bed and desk. This arrived very quickly, and was very easy to install in my small sized window. It was not very heavy so even a 110lb female can pick it up if they are careful and have adequate muscle (would recommend help installing it though, taking out was easy). The side attachments covered all my window so didn’t really need the stuffing. As for cooling power, I put it at level 7 at high and within 10 minutes my room was very cool. I didn’t bother with too much insulation because I prefer my room on the warm side, so my room did warm up pretty quick, but with it on blowing directly on me, I got cold real quick. It does not rattle but it does have a pretty medium loud hum, so for light sleepers this might not be for you, but for me who enjoys drowning outside noise, I liked it very much. This AC met my VERY ADEQUATE needs. No remote or temperature reader.

Saved me from the heatwave – I’ve been running an 8,000 btu of this same brand, but with the intense heat so early this year & the loss of 2 shade trees, it was no longer cutting it.
